The station was served by the Turkish State Railways from 1935 to 2006 and formerly the Oriental Railway Company from 1870 to 1935.〔(TCDD History ) - Trains and Railways of Turkey〕 The station was the southern terminus of the former Alsancak-Buca Commuter Line, one of the 4 commuter rail lines in İzmir. In 2006 the station was abandoned. ==History== In the 19th century Buca was a neighbourhood for the wealthy families of Ottoman İzmir. Many rich landowners would reside in Buca. These people worked in İzmir's city centre and needed a way of easy of getting home. So in 1870 the Oriental Railway Company (ORC) built a 2 km branch line to Buca from their main line to Aydın. A daily passenger train would operate between the ORC-owned Alsancak Terminal and Buca station.〔(ORC History ) - Trains and Railways of Turkey〕 In 2006 the construction of the new İZBAN commuter rail system and the Şirinyer Rail Tunnel started. With this the Buca branch along with the station was abandoned.
